Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has praised the Premier Soccer League ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against South Africa.

Nigeria's head coach is the latest in a long line of officials to give South Africa's top division, the Premier Soccer League, some big praise ahead of their titanic semi-final tussle with Bafana Bafana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The PSL is the most represented African league at this latest AFCON, and a number of its stars are still at the tournament as it reaches its final stages.

While Hugo Broos' charges make up a large percentage of the players in the Ivory Coast who ply their trade in the DStv Premiership, Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro has a PSL player of his own he can call on in Stanley Nwabali of Chippa United, and the Portuguese tactician has acknowledged and given praise to the quality of the division ahead of his team's AFCON semi-final against South Africa.

"First, I think in South Africa, they have a good senior league," Peseiro said at a pre-match presser.

"I was there to evaluate and speak with Chippa United when I was there for Stanley Nwabali, it's an exceptional league."

Most of his players play in some of Europe's top leagues, but despite this, he also insisted that Bafana will provide a tough test for his side as he continued to heap praise on his opponents for their large domestic influence and on his Belgian counterpart for his organisational skills.

"Even this national team has nine players from the same team, Mamelodi Sundowns... if a team plays with nine players from the same team over one or two years, of course, they can develop and improve in organisation," Peseiro added.

"This team has shown good organisation. They stay compact and don't allow a lot of space."
