Namibia's Africa Cup of Nations journey came to an end following a 3-0 defeat to Angola, who advance to the quarter-finals on Saturday evening.

Cape Town City’s new signing Prins Tjiueza joined Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile up top with Deon Hotto on the flanks, whilst Angola displayed a front-three of Mabululu, Gelson and Gilberto.

It was an unexpected start for Angola, who had goalkeeper Neblu dismissed on 17 minutes for coming out of his area to handle a shot and substitute Dominique stepped on.

An indirect free-kick were awarded to the Brave Warriors where Hotto nearly profited with a curling strike, but Dominique pulled off an outstretched save.

Tjiueza couldn’t see out the rest of the clash following an ankle knock and was removed after 25 minutes, with Absalom Limbondi his replacement.

Angola were ahead despite a man short when Fredy ran in-between the defence to go wide and pulled back for Gelson Dala to tap in comfortably.

It got worse for the Brave Warriors as Lubeni Haukongo committed a professional near his own penalty area and was dismissed following a second booking.

The Palancas Negras took full advantage of the situation and increased the led when Dala rose unmarked at the far post to head in the resultant free-kick.

Shalulile could’ve given the Brave Warriors a lifeline with a first-time shot following a ball in-behind, but he uncharacteristically ballooned over.

Mabululu joined the act within the midway point of the second period as he made a darting run towards the box and opened up his body to curl in off the far post.

The pressure didn’t subside from the Palancas Negras a little to the end, leaving the Brave Warriors unbalanced and chasing shadows.

Angola rand down the final few minutes with a few long range shots to secure the win and a spot in the quarter-finals.
