With English champions Manchester City topping the Deloitte Football Money League for the first time, here are the 10 best-earning clubs in the game!

The Deloitte Football Money League ranks teams on an annual basis by the amount of revenue generated from football operations during a particular campaign.

The 2022 report, which sees City at the top for the first time ever, is the 25th edition of the ranking, and the English outfit's €644.9 million (R10.5 billion) earnings last season ensured that they toppled previous leaders FC Barcelona, who dropped to fourth in the standing with their revenue of €582.1 million (R9.4 billion) in 2020/21.

Seemingly indicative of its popularity, the Premier League has five representatives in the top 10: chart-toppers City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Spanish giants Real Madrid occupy second place with their 2020/21 revenue of €640.7 million (R10.4 billion), while Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich is one spot below them after generating profits of €611.4 million (R9.9 billion) last season.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus also feature in the top 10, which you can see in full in the gallery above!

It is also noted in the 2022 report that the coronavirus pandemic had a negative impact on most clubs' profits, especially with fans not allowed to attend matches at stadiums for much of the 2020/21 campaign.

"The impact of Covid-19 is stark with the lack of fans in stadia unsurprisingly causing the lowest matchday revenue in the 25 years of the publication," the report read.

"Broadcast revenue is at a record high as a result of deferrals in distributions related to the delayed 2019/20 season."

However, good news is expected for the 2021/22 season with fans back at stadiums.

"Looking ahead to the 2023 Money League covering the 2021/22 season, we expect revenue of Money League clubs to reach record levels, as they bounce back from the effects of the pandemic and push towards collective revenues of 10 billion euros," the report continued.
