With Jose Mourinho having been without a job since his sacking by AS Roma, a former Real Madrid star has insisted the Portuguese boss is now "completely finished".

It has been nearly three months since the "Special One" was fired from his role as the head coach of Roma in January.

The decision came after 28 games across all competitions in the 2023/24 campaign, with the 61-year-old being immediately replaced by club legend Daniele De Rossi.

Mourinho's dismissal was met with mixed reactions, though, as some felt he deserved more time at the Rome club, especially after he guided Roma to the 2021/22 UEFA Europa Conference League title and a spot in the final of the 2022/23 Europa League.

However, others have been in support of the decision to relieve him of his duties at the Stadio Olimpico, including former Italy forward Antonio Cassano.

Speaking about Mourinho's sacking recently, the ex-Inter Milan star did not mince his words on the departed Giallorossi boss.

"As a coach, Mourinho is now completely finished. He is not capable of coaching anymore, he is still doing the same things as 10 years ago," Cassano, according to Football Italia.

"He wouldn't play [Leandro] Paredes and preferred [Edoardo] Bove to [Lorenzo] Pellegrini.

"De Rossi gave Roma the belief that this is a strong team, he's doing an extraordinary job. He was always destined for this."

Mourinho has been linked with several clubs since becoming a free agent, including Bayern Munich, Chelsea and, more recently, Sporting CP.

In February, it was also reported that he had rejected a big-money offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab, while it was also claimed he would not rule out a national team role for his next job.
