Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to depart Roma at the end of the season amid links to the England national side and a big money move to Saudi.

Jose Mourinho is now reportedly in contention for a top job in Europe following reports of a hefty R2.3 billion offer being tabled to him by Saudi Arabia.

With his contract at Roma set to expire at the end of the season, the Portuguese tactician would be open to taking over the England national team job after the 2024 UEFA European Championship, according to TEAMtalk.

Reports suggest that Mourinho has decided to part ways with the Serie A club when this campaign comes to a close, with the only uncertainty being his next destination.

"There are no negotiations ongoing [over a new deal with Roma] , there have never been. So they'll part company at the end of the deal in June," Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio said.

While his next employers are likely to not have to buy him out of his contract with Roma, the English FA is believed to be tempted by this prospect.

After initially rejecting the job in 2007, the former Chelsea boss is said to be keen to try to win trophies at international level, but only with two countries: England and Portugal.

However, Saudi Arabia are believed to have tabled a lucrative offer that could see the former Real Madrid manager reunite with his former players Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in a deal that would make him the highest-paid manager in football.

An unnamed Saudi Pro League club has reportedly offered Mourinho a two-year contract worth a staggering £104 million (R2.3 billion).

For now, though, the Portuguese tactician will be focused on the challenge of getting Roma out of its current slump. The Giallorossi are 10th on the table after winning just three of their eight games in the league this season.
