Manchester United are reportedly adamant that Mason Greenwood will never play for the club again, despite recent reports suggesting otherwise.

With Manchester United set for a new head of operations and recent reports suggesting a Mason Greenwood return is possible, the club is now said to have made a final decision on the striker.

The forward's future remains the subject of serious speculation as he continues to rebuild his career following a domestic abuse scandal that kept him out of action for close to two years.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 on charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour and assault occasioning bodily harm, but denied all charges.

The Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the case in February 2023 after witnesses pulled out, but the marksman was not allowed to return to Old Trafford pending a six-month internal investigation at United.

In August, the Red Devils decided that Greenwood would continue his career away from Manchester as word of his potential reinstatement to Erik ten Hag's side was met with much outrage and reportedly risked the club's relationship with a number of their commercial partners.

He was then shipped out on loan to LALIGA club Getafe for this season, and has already impressed many during his short time in Madrid so far, having registered three goals and three assists in 10 outings so far.

This led to reports suggesting that he may be allowed to return to United once Sir Jim Ratcliffe 25% purchase of the club is confirmed

It is understood that the British billionaire will oversee the footballing operations at the club, but according to GiveMeSport, United have decided to stick with their official stance on Greenwood, it being that he will never play for the English giants again.

The report claims that EPL giants feel responsible for resolving the 22-year-old's future as he is an academy graduate of theirs, but adds that their position on the player, that he will never wear their shirt in an official capacity again, remains genuine.

It is said that this is despite the fact that incoming chief Paul Mitchell was spotted watching Greenwood during a game against Cadiz earlier this month.
