Erik ten Hag's Manchester United are now reportedly looking to hijack a move for a Manchester City target worth £150 million.

The Red Devils are considering signing highly rated Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, according to Tribal Football via Fichajes.

United completed the signing of Denmark international Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for a reported fee of £72 million (R1.7 billion) in the most recent transfer window, but it is believed manager Ten Hag wants to add more depth to their centre-forward position, with Ferguson seemingly the ideal candidate.

The Irishman broke into Brighton's first team last year, and impressed as he scored six goals in 19 Premier League appearances.

This season, the teenage forward has already scored four goals in as many EPL appearances, including a hat-trick that helped his side to a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

His performances and potential have thus attracted the interest of a few top clubs, potentially complicating things for United.

City are also believed to be monitoring the striker, viewing him as either support or a succession plan for Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, with some reports suggesting that the Citizens are fearful of having their talisman lured away from the Etihad after this campaign.

Still only 18 years of age, Ferguson is considered by many to be one of the brightest emerging talents in the UK, and as a result, the Seagulls are believed to be ready to slap a hefty price tag of £150 million (R3.6 billion) on the forward.
