After all charges against were dropped on Thursday, Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood has spoken out for the first time since his arrest in January 2022.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that the charges of attempted rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour brought by a woman against the forward had been dropped.

Per the Crown Prosecution Service, the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material coming to light were factors in their decision to stop the case against the 21-year-old.

United released a statement hours later confirming they will launch their own investigation into the matter, and also revealed that the Englishman will not return to training while this process is underway.

"I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support," he said in a statement to The Sun.

"There will be no further comment at this time."

Since making his first team debut in 2019, the forward has played 129 games for United and scored 35 goals.
