French superstar Kylian Mbappe is reportedly trying to exercise his influence at Paris Saint-Germain by requesting that the club sign a close friend of his who plays for Manchester City.

Having signed a big-money contract extension with PSG in May 2022, it is rumoured that one of the promises made to the player was that he would have a serious influence over the dressing room and decision-making at the club.

There have been various reports regarding the power he has now, demonstrated by his rift with Neymar over the Brazilian's refusal to let him take a penalty earlier this season, which later resulted in manager Christophe Galtier coming out publicly to state that Mbappe is the team's designated penalty-taker.

It is also widely believed the 24-year-old made attempts to get Neymar sold in the previous transfer window, but the club were unable to offload the No. 10 due to the length and size of his contract. The two stars have since appeared to put their squabbles aside for the good of the team.

The France international continues to hold sway at the Parc des Princes, though, and has asked the reigning French champions to sign City's Bernardo Silva, who is a good friend of his, according to The Sun.

The two attackers enjoyed a successful time together at AS Monaco, with whom they won the 2016/17 Ligue 1 trophy before going their separate ways in the transfer window that immediately followed that title-winning campaign.

Over the past few windows, Silva has been linked with an exit from the Etihad.

FC Barcelona were believed to have made him one of their primary targets back in August 2022, but the Spanish giants were unable to make the deal happen due to a couple of issues, including their inability to reduce their wage bill at the time, as well as City's sizeable valuation of the playmaker, thought to be about £84 million (R1.7 billion).

City are now believed to be open to selling the Portugal international if the right offer comes in, while Silva has also told the Citizens to consider bids for him as he wants to move closer to his homeland.

The 28-year-old is contracted at the Etihad until 2025, however, so the reigning Premier League champions are under no pressure to consider a deal unless it is for an amount that suits them.
