FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has responded to reports claiming he is set to be sacked at the end of the season.

Reports surprisingly surfaced this week that the club president Joan Laporta and the board had changed their mind about Xavi staying beyond this season.

The reports did come as a surprise after Xavi confirmed earlier this month that he will not be leaving, changing his initial decision in January.

Xavi, however, stated that nothing has changed regarding his desire to stay with the Catalan giants.

“The club gives me peace of mind and enthusiasm and we continue with the same ambition," the coach said, as per Mundo Deportivo.

"I understand all the noise, but it doesn’t change anything. I’m not interested (in the speculation). I get information, but I’m interested in having the confidence of the president and Deco, which is still intact. It doesn’t change anything. I understand that the media has to publish something, but for me nothing has changed.

“If we need to talk about something, we’ll do it. Three weeks ago we sat here to announce that it was continuing. It doesn’t change anything at all. If there are any changes, we will tell you.

“I can’t provide any more information. We want to win and compete and secure second place.

"I have zero doubt that things can go well. I have an extraordinary base in the squad, with people from La Masia who have consolidated. I’m still looking forward to it. Barcelona is the club of my life.”
