Manchester United advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 victory over Newport County on Sunday evening.

It was the visitors first clash since drawing 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur, and with goalkeeper Andre Onana the obvious absentee- Turk Altay Bayindir debuted and got the nod ahead of Tom Heaton.

The ideal start followed when Antony moved left to the area following a counter-attack and cutback to see skipper Bruno Fernandes nestle the bottom-corner.

Antony received a golden chance to open his account when he came short to the area to collect Diogo Dalot’s pass, but he curled over from an inviting angle.

Nonetheless, it was two when Dalot stretched the defence to apply a step-over and delivered a smart cross to the box for Kobbie Mainoo to bag his first for the club.

Newport were fortunate not to go further behind after a long ball in-behind send Alejandro Garnacho to go in from the left and crack the woodwork with a first-time shot.

The host got one back ten minutes to halftime where a tremendous first-time shot outside the area by Bryn Morris deflected off Lisandro Martinez and touched the inside-post on-route to the net.

Newport kept the believe and equalised five minutes in the second half after Will Evans darted in the box to tuck in a square pass left of the attacking box.

Antony restored the lead though with 20 minutes to play when he latched onto a rebound off the post following Luke Shaw’s curler and slotted in.

The Exiles still fancied their chances, but the Red Devils put the final nail in the coffin as Rasmus Hojlund buried a loose ball in the rebound after the host fluffed their lines in the final minute, as the contest.
