Liverpool 3-0 Southampton

Liverpool booked a spot in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Southampton Wednesday evening.

In a raft of changes from the Reds had Jarrell Quansah, Joe Gomez, Konstantino Tsimikas, James McConnell, Lewis Koumas and Bobby Clark introduced from Sunday’s Carabao Cup triumph over fierce rivals Chelsea.

The newly-crowned Carabao Cup kings were in the lead on the stroke of halftime when starlet Koumas took a nicely laid delivery in his stride to fire in off Jan Bednarek’s foot.

Yet another starlet shone brightly later on as Harvey Elliott delivered a timeous reverse pass into the path of Jayden Danns to display superb composure on-route to finding the net and grabbed a goal on debut.

Danns continued to have a dream outing as he claimed a brace two minutes from time through a simple finish from close-range, as the Reds cruised into the last eight.

Chelsea 3-2 Leeds United

Chelsea overcame Sunday’s cup final defeat with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Championship side Leeds United.

Robert Sanchez, Adam Gilchrist, Noni Madueke, Trevor Chalobah and Mykhailo Mudryk stepped in for Dodre Petrovic, Levy Colwill, Ben Chilwell, Conor Gallagher, and Cole Palmer after Sunday’s Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool.

It was the worst possible start for the visitors as Mateo Joseph found a decent bit of space in the area to nick a cutback, but Senegalese Nicolas Jackson cancelled it out with a smart finish a littler later.

Ukrainian Mudryk got the host ahead for the first time in the match when he picked up Raheem Sterling’s probing pass to apply a smart finish.

Leeds refused to give up and clawed level a few minutes inside the second stanza as Joseph once again displayed composure in the danger area to head in cooly this time around.

Nonetheless, the evening belonged to the Blues after substitute Gallagher managed to work his way in the area to guide home Enzo Fernandez’s delivery and hand them a quarter-final spot.

Nottingham Forest 0-1 Manchester United

Manchester United left it very late to ensure their spot in the last eight after seeing off the struggling Nottingham Forest 1-0.

The injury of in-form striker Rasmus Hojlund opened up a chance for Marcus Rashford to step in and lead the line and were flanked by Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.

Antony very nearly made the breakthrough minutes inside kick-off when he combined with a layoff involving captain Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho before curling off the crossbar.

Not a lot of separated following the earlier scare from the Reds Devils, as the contest became very tight across all compartments.

As this sequence of play continued, a draw looked on the cards, but the Red Devils got over the line and into the last eight when a certain Carlos Casemiro came up with the goods in the final minute of the encounter.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Wolverhampton Wanderers progressed to the quarter-finals as a narrow 1-0 win edged out Brighton & Hove Albion out at the Molineux.

The Seagulls were up against it from the get-go where a goalkeeping howler from Jason Steele eight minutes gone presented Mario Lemina with the easiest of finishes.

Roberto De Zerbi’s as expected looked for the equaliser straight after going behind, but the home team kept a tight and ended up the win as well as a quarter-final ticket.

Quarter-Final fixtures:

Manchester United v Liverpool

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Coventry City

Chelsea v Leicester City

Manchester City v Newcastle United
