Arsenal recorded a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers to move top of the Premier League table on Saturday evening.

Jakub Kiwior came in as the Gunners' sole change from the loss to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night, with  Oleksandr Zinchenko dropping to the bench.

Mikel Arteta's side saw a lot of the ball in the early stages as expected, but they did find it tough to create any openings in the Wolves box as the hosts defended quite well.

The woodwork came to Arsenal's rescue in the 29th minute after goalkeeper David Raya did well to parry João Gomes' strike onto the upright.

Wolves were made to rue that miss five minutes before the halftime break when Gabriel Jesus held the ball up well and teed up Leandro Trossard, who swung his foot and sent the ball into the top corner.

Arteta's charges carried that momentum into the second period, with Martin Odegaard dictating the play although the clear-cut chances were hard to come by.

As a result, the Spanish tactician re-shuffled his stall soon after as the scorer Trossard made way for Gabriel Martinelli in the 72nd minute, while threw on Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia minutes later.

However, the next goal would fall to Arsenal in second-half stoppage time as Odegaard slotted past Jose Sa with a composed finish from a tight angle, sealing the vital win for the North London side.

The Gunners will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they take on city rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
