English giants Liverpool have now been urged to replace their misfiring attacker with one of two top African stars.

Despite registering 11 goals and eight assists in 33 Premier League appearances this season, Reds' striker Darwin Nunez has drawn much criticism for his inability to convert big chances, having registered 105 shots so far this season.

With a shot accuracy of just 42%and 26 big chances missed, statistics suggest that the Uruguayan forward has not been the most clinical in front of goal.

As such, former West Ham United star Nigel Reo-Coker has suggested that the Merseyside club would be better off trading the attacker for the likes of Nigeria and Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen or his compatriot and 2023/24 Bundesliga winner Victor Boniface.

The Gli Azzurri striker has registered 14 goals in 22 Serie A encounters this term, while the Bayer Leverkusen star contributed to his side's title-winning campaign with 11 goals and eight assists in 20 matches.

Reo-Coker criticised Nunez's ability in front of goal and highlighted the reported £85 million (R2 billion) the Reds paid to prise him away from Benfica.

"The chances that he is getting are not half-chances," the former Aston Villa midfielder said, per TBR via soccernet.ng.

"They are creating it for him, and for the striker and the money that they paid for him, he needs to be taking those chances. He is not good enough.

"If I was Liverpool, yes, you are going to lose [Mohamed] Salah, you can probably find a good enough replacement, but for me, it's that goalscorer.

"Nunez, it's either you give him another chance, or you try now to trade him with another club where you could maybe swap Nunez and bring in some top European strikers out there, whether that's Victor Boniface, Osimhen, or [someone else].

"You try to work out a swap deal to get one of those strikers in and move Nunez on."
