Brazilian legend Pele predicted that an African country would win the FIFA World Cup before the turn of the last century.

Even though those predictions did not come to fruition, there is still hope that African representatives will eventually fulfil their vast potential.

Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, and Senegal will be carrying African hopes at this year’s global showpiece and DStv will be there to broadcast all 64 matches in brilliant 4K.

SuperSport will also have crews on hand to capture breaking news, with a particular focus on African participants.

Reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal are in Group A together with hosts Qatar, Ecuador, and 2010 finalists Netherlands. In Group D, Tunisia will face a daunting task against current world champions France, Australia, and Denmark.

Morocco will be up against 2018 runners’-up Croatia, 2018 semi-finalists Belgium, and Canada. 1990 World Cup quarterfinalists Cameroon are squared against Brazil, Serbia, and Switzerland while Ghana is in Group H against Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.

Fans will enjoy expert build-ups and summaries, plus state-of-the-art graphics and supplementary programming for all 64 matches starting Sunday, 20 November.

As an added bonus, SuperSport’s World Cup broadcasts will be available in multiple languages, customised per region.

“I can confidently say that this is proving to be our most varied and dynamic World Cup offering,” said Marc Jury, SuperSport chief executive. “DStv’s teams have worked on this project for months and with just one month to go, we are ready to deliver a multi-platform broadcast that encompasses the very latest technology with some of the smartest, most entertaining soccer analysts in the world.”

Additionally, SuperSport’s offering will include World Cup action for Access subscribers (via SuperSport LaLiga, and DStv Channel 204).

Nineteen group matches, four round-of-16 matches, two quarter-finals, both semi-finals, a third-place playoff and the final will be broadcast on the channel.
