The nominees for the Ballon 'Or award this year have officially been revealed by France Football.
The French publication will once again crown the best footballer in the world based on results for the 2022//2023 season, a format which came into effect with last year's award.

Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema lifted last season's award after beating out competition from Sadio Mane and Kevin de Bruyne to become the fifth French player to win the prestigious accolade.
This year, however, is likely to see Manchester City star Erling Haaland and Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi fight it out for the award, with the latter looking to claim his eighth Ballon d'Or title.
France Football have already confirmed the awards ceremony will be held at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on 30 October 2022.
