The Red Devils parted ways with their previous head coach on 13 June, after 21 months in charge.
While that decision is said to have been a mutual agreement between the club and the South African boss after he had asked to be let go, it still came as a shock as Mosimane had signed a new deal with the Cairo outfit just last year.
It recently emerged that the 10-time CAF Champions League winners had identified a replacement for the 57-year-old, with personal terms said to have been agreed with Portuguese manager Ricardo Soares.
It has since been confirmed, in a statement released on Tuesday, that Soares has left his role as Portugal top-flight side Gil Vicente's head coach, along with four members of his technical staff, namely Mauricio Vaz, Raul Faria, Pedro Lobo and Pedro Guimaraes.
According to KingFut, Soares is now set to be announced as Al Ahly's new manager on a two-year contract worth €1.5 million (R25 million) a season.
It is further claimed that the 47-year-old paid his own release clause, believed to be valued at €250 000 (R4.2 million), in order to part ways with the Barcelos club.
