Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has now stated that he has instructed his lawyers to file a complaint against CAF, insisting that their recent behaviour towards him was unacceptable.

Eto'o has endured a tumultuous few years as the head of FECAFOOT, having faced several damaging allegations, including some of corruption.

Last year, several Cameroon football stakeholders filed a complaint against Eto'o at CAF, accusing the Indomitable Lions legend of an involvement in a number of misconducts.

The African football governing body proceeded to open an investigation into the former FC Barcelona striker, but, to date, there has been no update from CAF regarding their probe.

This appears to have incensed the four-time African Men's Footballer of the Year, who has now stated that he has decided to take action against CAF, citing reputational damage.

"I was never questioned about what I was accused of," Eto'o told France24.

"I therefore instructed my lawyers to file a complaint against the CAF and to establish responsibilities.

"It was too easy to tarnish everything I had built during these few years in the world of football.

"CAF launched a press release much too early. This is unacceptable behaviour."

The 42-year-old also commented on his attempted resignation from the FECAFOOT presidency after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

His resignation was denied and Eto'o now appears to have taken a sharp U-turn on his initial decision to step down.

"I will see the end of my mandate because those supporting me in this project felt that we were doing things well despite some poor performances," he confirmed.
