Young Africans head coach Miguel Gamondi has stated that Al Ahly were a better attacking side under Pitso Mosimane.

A CAF Champions League boss has declared that Al Ahly were better going forward under former manager Pitso Mosimane than they are under current head coach Marcel Koller.

Following their 1-0 defeat to the Egyptian giants in the final round of group stage matches on the weekend, Young Africans head coach Miguel Gamondi spoke about the encounter and compared the Swiss coach to his South African predecessor.

The victory means the Red Devils finish at the top of Group D with 12 points.

The Tanzanian side, meanwhile, will also advance to the knockout rounds after finishing as runners-up with eight points and a goal difference of three, two better than Algerian club CR Belouizdad who amassed the same number of points but finished third to miss out on a spot in the quarter-finals.

With only a goal by Hussein El Shahat separating the two sides on the night, Gamondi expressed his dissatisfaction towards the final score, and also spoke on the Red Devils' attack, lauding Pitso Mosimane briefly.

"I congratulate Al Ahly on the win and the lead, although the match was consistent between the two teams and created more than one opportunity for us and, of course, the result for me is unsatisfactory," he said, per El Rayada.

"The experiences of Al Ahly players are what led to their victory today. The goal attack was not strong, but the experiences were what scored this goal.

"Al Ahly, led by Mosimane, was better offensively.

"Koller played the match very directly, but if you ask me about my opinion which is better, I will say the way Koller played.

"Young Africans qualified as runner-up, and this means that the next match for us will be difficult because it is outside our stadium, but I have great confidence in my team."
