One of Africa's biggest teams has now reportedly made a big request to CAF ahead of their crunch fixtures in the next international window.

Egypt national team football director Ibrahim Hassan, the twin brother of the team's head coach Hossam, has sent a letter to the continent's football governing body to request a 24-hour postponement of one of their upcoming fixtures, according to Youm7

The Pharaohs are set to take on Burkina Faso on 7 June and Guinea-Bissau three days later in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Egyptians currently top Group A after picking up victories against Djibouti and Sierra Leone in their opening two qualifying ties.

It is claimed Hassan asked that the match against Guinea-Bissau be delayed, citing the amount of time between the match against Burkina Faso as being too little.

The national side's chief reportedly also stated that the flight to their second encounter will be a long-distance one that could take up to nine hours, and made reference to flight conditions too.

It is understood the team is now awaiting CAF's response to the requested postponement.

The Pharaohs appointed Hossam Hassan in February as the replacement for Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, who parted ways with the side after they were knocked of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations at the round of 16 stage.

Egypt's first outing under the new leadership came in the March international break, with the seven-time AFCON winners beating New Zealand by a goal to nil, before suffering a 4-2 defeat to Croatia.

The focus for the African giants will now be on securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup in United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as qualifying for the 2025 AFCON, which is set to take place in Morocco.
