Wydad Casablanca's Bouly Junior Sambou is confident his side can return home with the first-ever African Football League title on Sunday.

A Wydad Casablanca star has insisted he and his team will go to South Africa and then return home with the African Football League title this coming weekend.

The Moroccan side hosted Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of the inaugural tournament's first-ever final on Sunday, and came out on top with a 2-1 victory that gives them the advantage when they travel to Loftus Versfeld for the decisive return fixture on 12 November.

In a game some would consider to have been evenly contested, the Botola Pro League side managed to gain an edge in the tie courtesy of a 41st-minute own goal by Rivaldo Coetzee and a 78th-minute strike by Anas Serrhat, although Masandawana did grab an all-important away goal.

Les Rouges star Bouly Junior Sambou has since admitted that although they have the upper hand, the tie is far from settled, but also emphasised the team's desire to come away from the return fixture carrying the trophy.

"Things have not been resolved yet. We still have another round waiting for us in South Africa, and we will go there to return with the title," Sambou said, per Lesite Info.

"The team is satisfied with this result, and we will rest a little and then prepare well for the trip to South Africa, in order to win the cup."

Meanwhile, Wydad coach Adil Ramzi has stated that he expects greater ferocity from Masandawana on their home turf, adding that his side are "ready for all scenarios".

"Just as we won in our home stadium, we are able to repeat that in Pretoria. I do not see this as impossible, even if it is difficult, but if the same spirit and combat is present among the players, nothing will stop us," the manager said.

With the all-important second leg set to decide who the first-ever AFL champions will be and with a tidy $4 million (R72 million) on the line, both sides will have it all to play for this coming Sunday.
