The scoring struggles and injuries that clouded Leonardo Castro’s last year at Kaizer Chiefs are gradually falling off for the Colombian as he keeps going at his new club abroad.

Castro left his footmark in South Africa after spending four-and-a-half years at Chiefs during which he scored 29 goals after arriving from Mamelodi Sundowns where he won trophies and scored goals aplenty through the 30 months that he was there.

The-34-year-old was without a club for nine months after his release by AmaKhosi in June 2022.

In his new job at USA third tier league club Greenville Triumph, the veteran striker has remembered how to score goals yet again.

Thursday morning was yet another match for him and he delivered with a header in a 3-3 draw against Union Omaha.

It was his third goal of the season but has had another four assists giving him a total of seven goal contributions in 11 appearances.

Last season, Castro failed to score in his last year at Chiefs in the 13 appearances that he made.

The last time that that Castro scored in consecutive games like he has done now was in January 2020 when he was on target against Highlands Park and Cape Town City.
