TS Galaxy defender Given Msimango has shared his thoughts on winning the Man of the Match award against Kaizer Chiefs, just months after being linked with a move to Naturena.

TS Galaxy extended their unbeaten record at the FNB Stadium to five matches on Wednesday after playing out a 2-2 draw against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership.

Ashley Du Preez and Keagan Dolly were on the scoresheet for the hosts on the night, scoring either side of goals from TS Galaxy's Bernard Parker and Djakaradija Traore, but it was Rockets defender Given Msimango who was named man of the Man of the Match for his efforts.

Msimango ended the encounter with an 83% pass rate and five successful tackles to his name, and pulled off a number of crucial blocks to ensure that his side returned home with a share of the points.

"Glory goes to the Almighty and I credit this to my teammates," Msimango told SuperSport TV after receiving his second award of the season. "Today we put in a very good effort on the pitch, executed our strategy very well even though we didn’t start well and conceded early.

"But we stuck to our guns and managed to get our two goals. It’s very unfortunate how we conceded the second goal but that’s how the game is."

On his performance, he added, "It’s part of defending. You have to position yourself properly in the box to be able to not allow the shooter to get a clear line on the goal. I think today, I did very well in that aspect, and together with my teammates, we managed…unfortunately not keep the clean sheet, but we fought to the end and managed to get a point away from home."

Msimango was strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs towards the end of last season but penned a new three-year deal with Galaxy in July that will run until the end of the 2024/25 season.
