Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali has revealed why he rejected a contract offer from Kaizer Chiefs after he returned from Europe.

Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr revealed in April last year in an interview on Radio 2000 that the club did indeed approach Jali after he left Belgian club KV Oostende in 2018 but did not elaborate why they could not come to an agreement.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder was eventually signed by Sundowns in 2018, where he spent five years before he became available again in July last year.

The Glamour Boys were linked with the signing of the 33-year-old again but Moroka Swallows pulled off a coup of the winter transfer window as they signed him as a free agent after his contract was not renewed by the Brazilians.

Jali has confirmed that Chiefs approached him after he left Oostende in 2018 but they could not agree on terms due to a disagreement over the transfer of image rights.

"They had their way of doing things, in their contracts at that time. They did (approach me), that's why Kaizer  (Jr) was mentioning it because he knows he was there also," Jali said on 947's MSW.

"I never said no to them (Chiefs), it's just that the contract... Some agreements were not good.

"At Chiefs there's this clause that your signing on fee, they will own your Instagrams, your Facebooks and everything to tell you what to post. Your image rights, it's not possible. So they can't tell me my image rights is my signing (on) fee. It's not possible," he revealed.

Jali is currently unattached after his contract was terminated by Swallows.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder is currently in court dispute with the Birds over his dismissal.

'AJ' submitted an urgent application to the PSL's Disciplinary Committee to have him reinstated at Swallows but his bid was reportedly struck off the roll on the basis that his matter was not urgent.
