Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo believes sticking to the instructions from the coach Lehlohonolo Seema was extremely pivotal to getting the win over Orlando Pirates.

Sekhukhune United threw the top-three race in the DStv Premiership wide open with a shock 2-1 win over the Buccaneers on Saturday evening.

Mntambo, who not too long ago, donned the colours of the Sea Robbers, were on target and set-up Vusimuzi Mncube for the opening strike too.

“Yeah, thank firstly I want to thank God for helping us fulfilling our talents. It was never going to be an easy fixture against Orlando Pirates. We stuck to the instructions the coach gave us,” Mncube told SuperSport TV.

“We knew we were going to suffer at some point, we had to defend, keep shifting and keep the block and the balls were going to come because we are a team that also plays on the transition.

“We have got quick forwards and we knew that if we keep patient and press up front a goal was going to come and with a transition, we managed to score two goals,” he continued.

The secret to Babina Noko’s sudden up-turn involves no magic wand or formula for that matter but just a hard working team spirit.

‘Figo’ also disclosed he had no issues playing up top and didn’t voice any response to coach Seema when he mentioned it to him in the lead up to the clash.

“Look, I think since the resumption of the league we have been working extremely hard as a team. Now I think it’s five games unbeaten, five wins in a row and we keep grinding at training working hard focus on the next game,” he said.

“When the coach came in midweek and said ‘Figo, I’m going to play you as a false striker you know, I’m mad at times and play you as a false nine, do you believe me?

“Then, I said no coach oh well the team comes first, I dare to play the role and look what it did for us today. I got an assist and a goal.

“My son is turning seven years old on Monday; I think this is for him. I liked to thank the first team, technical team, fans that came out in numbers, of course the whole Sekhukhune,” continued the outspoken figure.
