Diarra is currently in the books of Malian domestic champions Stade Malien Bamako and has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the past four years, during which he has earned 46 caps including appearances at the AFCON finals and in World Cup qualifiers.
Michel Sinha, his representative based in South Africa, confirms that there has been solid interest in his client's services.
"There is something cooking in the pot and it is just a matter of reaching certain agreements with the interested parties over his transfer," Sinha tells this website.
"There is no doubting the quality of this 'keeper because he is the first-choice of a national team ranked in the top 10 countries in Africa. In the national team he plays ahead of players based in Europe, so that should tell you about his qualities.
"He has even captained the national team as well on several occasions, so this is a top keeper who will add value in the PSL."
Diarra is 26 and has played all of his professional career with Stade Malien – one of the two biggest clubs in Mali, along with Djoliba.
He has won the Malien Premiere Division five times and the Malien Cup on three previous occasions.
"He has won it all in Mali, and so just needs to test himself in a new environment and I think South Africa will be a good option, considering the engagements that we have had," adds Sinha.
The West African nation of Mali has yet to feed the PSL with any real superstars in previous years, with the likes of Cheik Cisse, Souleymane Keita, Sekou Camara, Abdoulaye Camara, Ousmane Berthe, Gaossou Diarra and Souleymane Diabate amongst those that have played here.
