The Mamelodi Sundowns bank balance is bracing for further weight this season following their progress to the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.
As winners of the inaugural African Football League, Sundowns pocketed USD4 million (approx. R76,9 million).

On the domestic scene, Sundowns got R800 000 for reaching the MTN8 final which they lost to Orlando Pirates on penalties.
For their participation in the Carling KnockOut Cup where they fell in the last 16, Sundowns took home R550 000.
Then with eight wins from the opening quarter of the DStv Premiership, the Q-Innovation Quarter One worth R1,5 million is in the bag making it R2,85 million in the bank already on the local front.
Depending on how the league works out the order of fixtures for the Q-Innovation Two another R1,5 million could come their way if not handed to Stellenbosch.
R3 million will be still up for grabs for the Quarter Three and Four.
Then in the Nedbank Cup, R450 000 is already secured for reaching the last 16 but the prime target is the winners’ cheque of R7,25 million.
The Brazilians are already on the way to R15 million for winning their seventh league title in a row.
In the Champions League, there is USD4 million (approx. R76,9 million) for the winners.
Having already reached the last eight, Sundowns already have USD900 000 (approx. R17,3 million) guaranteed.

This means Sundowns could end up with R183,4 million from prizemoney this season which will be the most ever won by an African club in one season.
So far, Rulani Mokwena’s men already have R78,25 from AFL, MTN8, and Carling plus a minimal of R17,3 million in the Champions League and R450 000 in the Nedbank Cup while the domestic league is certain to earn them R15 million.
