Mamelodi Sundowns' injury list has reached concerning levels ahead of the resumption of the CAF Champions League, as they have eleven players out injured.

The Brazilians were expected to have a challenging second round of the season, as they contributed most players in the Bafana Bafana squad, ten, that participated at the Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa playing up to the business end of the tournament means they have played the same number of matches as teams that reached the final and given the number of games that the Sundowns players had already played before the tournament, fatigue and injury issues were always going to creep in.

The first casualty while the tournament was still underway was Thapelo Maseko, who was ruled out of the semi-finals against Nigeria with a hamstring injury and he's yet to return to training.

Fellow Bafana stars, Khuliso Mudau, Mothobi Mvala and Themba Zwane are also out with injuries.

Masandawana head coach Rulani Mokwena revealed after their Nedbank Cup trouncing of NB La Masia, that Mudau and Mvala are expected to be out for six up to eight weeks.

Mokwena also confirmed that goalkeeper Ronwen Williams is struggling with a shoulder injury he picked up at AFCON, despite starting in high-profile encounter against Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, Sundowns also have Lucas Ribeiro Costa also out injured with an adductor tightness and was said to be in stage 4 of his rehabilitation before the game against La Masia, by the club's media.

The Tshwane giants also have Rushine De Reuck out injured with a quad injury and he is in stage 2 of his rehab.

Other Sundowns players out injured includes Rivaldo Coetzee, Lesiba Nku, Sammy Seabi and Siyanda Nyanga, bringing the total to 11 players in the treatment table.

Sundowns will resume their CAF Champions League group stage campaign when they travel to Mauritania to face Nouadhibou in the penultimate match of Group A.

The Brazilians top the section by virtue of a superior head-to-head over TP Mazembe, as they are equal on points and are only three points ahead of Pyramids and Nouadhibou.
