Rulani Mokwena was left ranting on Monday night as he pointed fingers at officials after Mamelodi Sundowns drew with Moroka Swallows.

Mokwena was fuming in the tunnel after the match as he sought answers from referee Jelly Chavani and arrived for the post-match press conference still incensed by what he had seen on the field.

The 2-2 stalemate came with goals that Mokwena described as having been both offside.

Worse was what happened after what went on to stand as Swallows’ equaliser scored by Gabadinho Mhango late in the match, with the goal initially ruled out for offside before being confirmed after a while.

"I haven’t spoken about referees the entire season, but this time I will speak because this is very bad," reacts Mokwena.

"I’m very disappointed with the officiating today (Monday) and that is that.

"Both goals were offside.

"I studied the Laws of the Game very well.

"I don’t have my licences for fun and I went to the coaching school, I studied the Laws of the Game because it is one of the most important things to know as a coach.

"The assistant referee puts his flag [up] for offside and then the referee consults.

"Who was Jerry consulting?

"Maybe you can tell me who Jerry was talking to.

"Is it VAR?

"Do we suddenly have VAR in South Africa?

"This is the third time that this is happening this season.

"Should I be slapped three times and look the other way?

"We all make mistakes, but those decisions are not mistakes, especially with consultation.

"Do you want to tell me that you label this a mistake after consulting?

"And then the fourth official (Cedrick Muvhali) laughs and is smiling and tells my players from the word go that ‘I have a bad heart’ and you also have bad hearts.

"What has that got to do with football?

"It is wrong to the core.

"SAFA, as the custodians of football, must look at this situation.

"How many of our referees are doing international games and why are they not doing international games?

"If they were good enough, they would be doing more international games.

"What happens to the reputation of South African football when every week coaches must complain about officials?

"A coach will get relegated because of this (officiating) and you forget about how he got fired," says Mokwena.
