Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed how he has encouraged more players on his team vie for a spot in their respective national teams.

The Brazilians welcomed back ten players to who represented their respective national teams during the two-week long intranational break with eight representing Bafana Bafana, while Peter Shalulile and Brian Onyango were in Namibian and Kenyan colours respectively.

"We are proud of each and every single one of them, we are proud of the Bafana players that made an incredible contribution, to thee Bafana team, both on and off the pitch," Mokwena said on Friday.

"We are proud of Peter, of course we watched him against team like Cameroon, both home and away the quality that he gives to that Namibian side, not only that but he gives also that work ethic.

"Brian was the phenomenal and you can say the same [about the rest of the players on the team].

"I said to [Marcello] Allende, I said to [Erwin] Saavedra, I said to AB [Abdelmounaim Boutouil] that they need to be next, when there is an international break they need to be playing for their national teams.

"Not only because I speak from a position where I many be a little bit biased, but because I believe the talent they have and the qualities they shown in this club which happens to be a one of the biggest clubs on the African continent and the performances that they show are worthy enough.

"Of course with Allende, the performances are good enough for him to be I that space. So it’s step by step, we will continue to work and give them as much support as we can and hopefully they can get into that space when they can hopefully be in their national teams."

Sundowns are putting in the final preparations for a CAF Champions League Group state clash against Coton Sport to be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday.
