Rulani Mokwena has stated how he feels tired and not appreciated through walking up mountains and swimming pools across at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mokwena is visibly drained with each match that Sundowns plays through a hell fixture schedule this season that could reach 60 games with the prospect of lifting a quadruple.

The 37-year-old has now overseen 80 games in all competitions since taking over as the sole head coach in October 2022, and remains unbeaten in the DStv Premiership after 42 matches.

He has won 31 in the league and drawn 11 and has now set the longest unbeaten run to a new season at 22 games unbeaten.

Sundowns have also played another 38 in other competitions and lost just four times in open play.

"I don’t feel like we are the team with the longest unbeaten record in the history of the PSL," says Mokwena.

"Maybe it is because I move on too quickly.

"Maybe, it is because of a lack of appreciation that I sometimes feel and that in the difficult moments we don’t get the support that we need.

"But who cares?

"The job must go on and we have to keep on fighting and trying to grind results for this club and to make our supporters happy.

"That is what I’m focused on.

"On my demeanour, I’m tired.

"I’m very tired.

"I’m tired and there is a lot going on, but no one cares.

“I just have to get on with it.

"Some people will say he is talking about fatigue when he has 46 players, but there is only one head coach, and the head coach suffers with the players.

"He has work to do.

"I’m human and it is perfectly normal for someone to be tired and I’m tired.

"To tell you the truth, I don’t feel appreciated.

“I don’t think the sacrifices and the amount of investment that we give is appreciated.

"It affects me because I’m human and I’m not afraid to say it because to speak about your weaknesses is a good thing because you are able to know how to find strength.

"I’m strong and I have the support of the club and the players, which is important.

"My players are on my case about wanting me to sleep.

"But I can’t sleep because if I sleep, then people will beat us.

"The only thing I know is to continue what we are doing and improve in an abnormal season.

"I don’t know any other way to succeed and give back to the club except to sacrifice my sleep and health and deliver the results.

"I don’t know any other way.

"I can’t control anything else than to make sure that the team is prepared and ready," says Mokwena.
