Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has praised his players for going an extra mile despite having already won the DStv Premiership title after a 2-0 win over Royal AM.

Peter Shalulile and Lesiba Nku scored in either half to give Sundowns back-to-back wins over Thwihli Thwahla in the space of four days.

The Brazilians have had a hectic schedule in the last few weeks but the Sundowns coach had nothing but praise for the squad with three games left in the campaign.

"Congratulations to the club, everybody, the management, the supporters, it's great to see them happy, congratulations to the technical team, a lot of hard work behind the scenes and also congratulations to this group of players, another amazing performance. A lot of effort, a lot of intensity and I'm very happy with their performance today," Mokwena said on SuperSport.

"I just keep demanding more but I demand more from myself, first I have to demand more from myself and then I have to set an example. When I give more, it means everybody else has no excuse not to give more and that's what they are doing.

"They deserve a lot of praise and credit for that, I'm extremely proud of this group of players, what they are doing this season is incredible and it's not just the ones we see on the pitch, it's not just the ones you see on the bench.

"It's the ones who are also at home watching, because when we train we train not for the eleven but we train for the entire team," he said.

"And so the intensity is good, the players that are at home are just as much an important part of this team, as the ones that you see every single day sometimes and we rotate and we give chances to people. So very proud of the players and very proud of their effort and I'm a very proud coach," he added.
