Mamelodi Sundowns legend Eric Ramasike says the win over Sekhukhune United is enough proof that they don't need to sign new players for next season.

Goals from Tashreeq Matthews and Thapelo Morena saw the makeshift Sundowns team beat Sekhukhune 2-1 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The win sees Sundowns edging closer to their seventh consecutive league win, with Rulani Mokwena's charges needing two more wins.

With Sundowns set to play an important CAF Champions League semi-final second leg against Tunisian giants Esperance at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday, they had the majority of their stars sitting out this one.

"Yesterday's game's result proves just how much depth Sundowns have, I don't understand why we should complain about playing too many matches, why should we ask for postponements?" Ramasike tells KickOff.

"These other players must also earn their salary, we must give them a chance to prove they deserve to be there.

"Yesterday we changed the whole starting eleven, and they did just fine with these boys, we managed to put together a formidable team, and we won.

"Sekhukhune United made mistakes and we capitalized on those mistakes, that's what good teams do. They capitalize on opponents' mistakes.

"So I don’t understand why should we ask for our games to be postponed.

"Yes the players that played yesterday lacked match fitness and they are a bit rusty, but that's because they are not given enough game time.

"They are not on par with the ones who are playing regularly, I don't think it is necessary to sign new players next season, but if ever the coach thinks we need to reinforce here and there, he can do it, but for me, Sundowns have enough players for next season."
