Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile says they want to make a statement that it's possible to win five trophies in one season after booking their spot in the MTN8 final.

Shalulile netted a brace in the semi-final second-leg as Sundowns edged Chiefs 2-1 and 3-2 on aggregate to progress to the final.

"First of all we thank God, Jesus Christ our Saviour, everything has time in life, you just have to be patient and wait on the Lord, and this is what happened today," Shalulile said on SuperSport TV after he received his Man of the Match award.

"You can see it was a tough game but if you stay positive during the hard times these are the outcomes of everything.

"It means a lot, we want to make a statement that it's possible for a team to win four, five trophies like this."

"But for Sundowns and my teammates, we just wanna win trophies. It doesn't mean if you don't play good football you cannot win trophies but this is what we're trying to do, win trophies."

Shalulile went on and said that his first full 90 minutes since he returned from injury will boost his confidence and gave credit to head coach Rulani Mokwena for believing in him.

"It's a good booster for me, the coach believes in me, that's what I know about that. That's why I try my level best not to disappoint him, that's why I put an extra shift, more work in and the outcome like today will happen," he said.

The Namibian scored in the first ten seconds of the game after he dispossessed Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Peter and revealed that they practiced and planned not to allow Petersen to play long balls.

"It started at training, we make sure that the keeper should not play long, press the keeper and that's what happened and that's why I scored the first goal and even the second goal I was going to head behind the second-back and that's what I did," he said.

"Coach Rulani, credit must go to him, the guy doesn't sleep and he wants the best from us and like I say, if the coach wants the best from you, you always try to deliver, that's what we're always taught by the coach," he added.
