Rulani Mokwena will lead Mamelodi Sundowns in Wednesday’s evening Tshwane derby against SuperSport United still unbeaten since he took over as the sole head coach 13 months ago.

Yet for all the cruising that Mokwena has enjoyed on the driver’s seat at Sundowns the club that will be opponents at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe still stands as the last to hand The Brazilians a defeat in the DStv Premiership.

Matsatsantsa recorded a 2-1 win with Thapelo Maseko and Bradley Grobler on target while Abubeker Nasir scored a late consolation for the champions.

This was on September 2, 2022.

Since then, The Brazilians have played 32 league games (26 wins and six draws) and through that time Mokwena was elevated to become the sole head coach leaving him without defeat since he took over the dressing room.

"We have to go on with the business and win games and that is what we try to do and have no excuses," says Mokwena,

"My job is to win football games and I can’t be sentimental.

"To stay in my job, I have to make sure that I produce the results because this is about efficiency and productivity," says Mokwena.

The joy for Hunt is that Matsatsantsa will finally be back home eight months since they played at the venue in Atteridgeville.

Hunt’s men have been forced to play their home games at Tshwane University of Technology, Peter Mokaba Stadium, and Royal Bafokeng.

"It has been difficult for us, and we have tried to keep our heads above the water.

“We have done okay but the last two games have hurt us because we should have won both, but we drew and lost.

"Luckily, we not even halfway yet so it is a long way to go and hopefully we can try and get our momentum back again.

"We can’t worry about them but rather ourselves because we should have been way above two points per game but unfortunately, we are not," says Hunt.
