Mamelodi Sundowns legend and head scout Esrom Nyandoro has revealed that the club is currently monitoring three young players from neighbouring Zimbabwe.

Reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns' quest to maintain their dominance over the South African football landscape is one that never rests and the club is actively looking to find the next generation of stars who can take the club forward.

Cassius Mailula, who has scored five goals already this season, is among the academy graduates who have broken into the first team, while others from the club's DStv Diski side, such as Thando Nkosi, have begun training with the seniors.

The scope of Downs' scouting range is not only local, however, as head scout Esrom Nyandoro recently revealed that the club is currently monitoring three young players from his homeland, Zimbabwe.

"We are monitoring three players from Zimbabwe, of course I don't want to say their names," Nyandoro said during the latest episode of Teko & Tiyani Talk! "One plays in Harare, and two are playing in Bulawayo, where I come from. We are keeping track of them and monitoring their situation."

The 42-year-old, who made more than 200 appearances for Masandawana during his playing career, also shed light on the youngsters coming through the ranks and backed more of the club's youth to go on to represent South Africa at age group level.

"First of all, scouting is very tough. I think the demand that we have in the team, we always want to win everything. And the question that they ask is, 'Who is the next Sugar? Who is the next Teko Modise?'" he added.

"We all know that there will only be one Sugar and one Teko, so we have to top up. We have to bring in a better player than what we have currently. Scouting at Sundowns is a 24-7 job. You don't sleep, you work tirelessly to bring in the best players from Africa or South America.

"When it comes to young players, I had the privilege to go to the U20 COSAFA in Swaziland where we had two boys and I think we could have had more, because I know some of the players are very talented.

"Thando Nkosi is training with the first team now, he had a fantastic tournament. He also pulled out the crowd in Swaziland, earning a nickname because of the tucking in of the shorts... The boys were just fantastic and I think more players will go on to play for the youth national team."
