A former Orlando Pirates head coach has warned those who believe Mamelodi Sundowns are aided by their financial power to stop being jealous of Rhulani Mokwena and Co.
Mokwena has still not lost a single match since he was made the club's sole head coach.
"The league is so inconsistent it is frightening, hey, draw loose...It's only Sundowns that's flying," Owen Da Gama tells KickOff.
"Let's be very honest, and if you understand football in South Africa, you will know that there was a time when Sundowns had Johan Neeskens, they had all these guys, but they couldn't win.
"So, it's not about the money, it's about the work that the coaches are doing and the support they've been getting from management all these years.
"Sundowns they've had big coaches who were buying big players, but they couldn't win so it's got nothing to do with that.
"I think we mustn't be jealous you know; Sundowns is doing well and you must take your hat off for them.
"Rhulani is doing well, he is supported by Manqoba [Mnqithi] by Steve [Khompela], So I think they've done exceptionally well.
"When Pitso [Mosimane] left I said maybe they can do the same as Pitso or maybe they can do better.
"So, I'm very proud to be in South Africa and a team like Sundowns is performing the way they are.
"Therefore, you must take your hat off and say well done, simple as that.
"This thing of buying players and all that got nothing to do with the game.
"I would say it is Sundowns league to lose because they are very consistent. If you look at the other teams, they haven't been consistent as Sundowns."
