Midfielder Teboho Mokoena is set to make a timely return for Mamelodi Sundowns when they take on ES Tunis in the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final in Tshwane on Friday.

Mokoena missed the first leg match away in Tunisia on Saturday due to a hamstring injury suffered during the DStv Premiership match against Moroka Swallows in Soweto last week Monday.

The Bafana Bafana international watched from the sidelines as Masandawana suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the North African side after Brazilian striker Yan Sasse outsmarted the visitors' defence to give the four-time Champions League winners a lead in the first half.

The Yellow Nation is now set to welcome their influential midfielder in the second leg at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday.

“Teboho Mokoena was almost ready, but we didn’t wanna take a risk because of the schedule that we have going forward. But we will see how it goes,” head coach coach Rulani Mokwena told journalists during a press conference after the first leg.

Masandawana will now need to beat ES Tunis by at least 2-0, or any two-goal margin or more, to advance to the final of the prestigious competition.

“I am extremely proud of the effort of my players. I thought we were brave on the ball. I thought we defended very well. I thought we suffered together in moments when we had to suffer against a very good team,” added Mokwena.
