Mamelodi Sundowns have managed to keep Peter Shalulile in their camp despite this period being a FIFA calendar week.

Shalulile returned to action on Sunday for his first appearance since featuring in the MTN8 final.

As is typical of the Namibian gunman, he put his name on the scoresheet in the African Football League final second leg against Wydad Casablanca and lasted 89 minutes before being pulled out.

With that goal, Shalulile took his tally playing for a top-flight league club in South Africa up to 108 goals.

Veteran striker Bradley Grobler is on 107 goals.

Both have Siyabonga Nomvete’s all-time scoring record of 123 goals in sight.

The time frame of Nomvete’s goals were scored stretched from the 1997/98 season at African Wanderers and to AmaZulu during the 2018/19 season.

While Shalulile’s return to full fitness and his goal chase have taken priority during this international, Namibia’s coach Collin Benjamin was terse in his response when asked about the 30-year-old.

"Peter is also not with us.

"Peter is a player of Mamelodi Sundowns.

"The last communication we got from his club is that Peter is injured, and is Peter is injured so he didn’t travel with the team.

"So, that is what it is," said Benjamin when he was quizzed by the Namibian Football Association media department.

The Brave Warriors play away in Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday before travelling to Morocco for a date with Sao Tome and Principe.

Both are Group H World Cup qualifying games.

Shalulile has 22 games to play in the DStv Premiership, CAF Champions League football, and the Nedbank Cup.
