Former Orlando Pirates head coach Roger De Sa has made himself available for the head coach position at Kaizer Chiefs.

Amakhosi are currently in search of a permanent head coach who will hit the ground running immediately after he takes over following years of underachievement and disillusionment among the fanbase.

Former assistant coach at Al Ahly, Cavin Johnson, is currently in charge of the Glamour Boys, albeit on a temporary arrangement. He is the second coach to lead the the club this season after Molefi Ntseki, with both having failed to change the situation at Naturena as the trophy drought persists.

De Sa, who recently left his position as assistant coach for the Qatar national team, has raised his hand for arguably the most demanding job in South African football.

The former Moroka Swallows, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper does have some experience in winning trophies as a coach. In 2015/16, he won the MTN8 with Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs0. This, after helped Bidvest Wits to be crowned Nedbank Cup champions in the 2009/10 campaign.

De Sa says this is a good time for Amakhosi to employ a permanent coach, to afford him enough time to prepare for next Ssason.

"It's always better to start early than later, even if it's not an active role," he tells KickOff.

"It would give their next head coach a bit of a head start. I think that would be advisable if they are gonna change.

"I haven't sent any CVs to anybody, I've never applied for a job. They know where I am. If they were interested, they would contact me. Before, if clubs were interested in anything that interests me, they would first fill me in, tell me their plans... then I'd make a decision.

"I'm sure Chiefs will decide on what they want and what they want to achieve and where they wanna go. They’ve been in a struggle for the last couple of years, but I think they are a team that can easily turn a corner at any moment," added De Sa.

The 59-year-old also gave an update on what he is currently up to, having been out of the limelight for a while when it comes to coaching in Mzansi's topflight.

"Everybody knows I'm available. I'm sitting at home. No rush for me, I'm sitting at home and looking at options. I've had a couple of contacts from different countries and I'll make a decision. I'm free, I'm employed by my wife right now, she is the boss."

"Chiefs need to continue with the rights (the right things) that they are doing there and just correct one or two things that have not gone their way. They are a massive club, they are a glamorous club. They've been well-run, they were one of the top clubs in Africa, I’m sure they are on the verge of a turnaround. It can't be far away."
