Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Roger De Sa believes Bruce Bvuma's good performances will make it difficult for fan-favorite Itumeleng Khune to win back his place as Kaizer Chiefs' first-choice keeper.

Though Khune's suspension has now been lifted by the Soweto giants, he is not expected to get game-time anytime soon as he faces a huge competition from Bvuma who has so far kept seven clean sheets in eight appearances.

Khune is said to be not interested in the club’s offer of taking over the role of goalkeeper coach at the club as he believes he can still carry on for a few more years.

"For a goalkeeper clean sheets are very important, if you don't concede you don't lose, and you always got a chance of winning," De Sa tells KickOff.

"Seven clean sheets, doesn't matter who you are playing for, it's an excellent achievement.

"Of course seven clean sheets for a club like Chiefs which is struggling a bit, and I'm sure it's a starting point for improvement.

"Cavin Johnson the first he did was to tighten up at the back, and of course now they are not conceding any goals and that is vitally important.

"Look Khune, like anything, his time will come to an end, you can’t be there forever.

"Khune and the club must realize it's time for somebody else, just like when Brian Baloyi was there.

"But like with previous goalkeepers, Baloyi his time came to an end. I hope it all ends well, and let's not forget the good job that Khune did.

"If he still wants to play, then he must leave and go to play. If he feels he can still play then he must go play because coaching it's something he can do for many years, but once you retire you cannot play again."
