Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana captain Siphiwe Tshabalala has revealed that he is not yet retired from playing football, but has kept his cards close to his chest regarding the next move.

Now 38 years old, and at the twilight of a glittering professional playing career, 'Shabba' will be remembered mostly for his time with Amakhosi where he made over 350 appearances and won the PSL Footballer of the Season award in the 2010/11 campaign.

The dread-locked winger will also of course be forever entrenched in the history books for scoring the first goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Tshabalala has been without a club since parting ways with AmaZulu at the end of w one year contract with the Durban-based outfit in August 2021.

Although he has closed the door on playing abroad, after a season in Turkey, Shabba refuses to rule out a a return to the field of play locally.

"The chapter of going abroad definitely closed, I won’t even entertain it," Tshabalala said.

"For me I’m at this stage where by there is no pressure for me. Whatever decision that comes will come from a god and comfortable place whether I go back and continue or not.

"I’m still grateful for the opportunity and the achievements as well. For me, it is not all about me, it's also about teaching. It's about having a positive influence on others as well. So, whether I’m going back or not, I’ll still continue in football.

"I am who I am and where I am because of football, because of this opportunity, hence it’s befitting that I give back to football in any way and in any opportunity that I get.
