Mamelodi Sundowns legend Joel "Fire" Masilela agreed with Ernst Middendorp that last night's penalty against Cape Town Spurs should have not been awarded.
Masilela says poor officiating in the local league is seriously affecting the standard of the football in the DStv Premiership.
The log leaders were awarded a controversial penalty that resulted in their 1-0 away win over the relegation-threatened Urban Warriors at Athlone Stadium on Tuesday night.

Spurs' Asenele Velebayi committed a foul against Peter Shalulile which seemed to have occurred outside the box, with Lucas Ribeiro Costa stepping to convert the penalty that saw Sundowns grab all three points.
"I'm worried about our officiating, our referees are not improving, and this is my biggest worry," Masilela tells KickOff.
"You know where I come from When it comes to bad officiating, everyone knows the story of the Rothmans Cup.
"It is sad to see that even today we still have the same challenge again and again. Why can't we improve our level of officiating?
"Cape Town Spurs they were robbed by the referee, you could see the tackle happened outside the box.
"And he [Shalulile] dived from outside to inside the box. The contact was made from outside.
"Sometimes our referees decision-making is very poor and very disappointing. To be fair and honest the contact happened outside.
"These are some of the decisions that make people upset sometimes, and start assuming that some teams are benefitting and all that.
"And that's not the case, it's just these referees who are not improving, we need to do something about it. We talking about FIFA fair play here.
"We need these things like VAR and Goal-line Technology. I don't think SAFA is broke, but the problem is how it is run.
"The people that are there are running it to benefit themselves not to improve our football.
"I'm shocked to see such things still happening in this day and age, it's embarrassing. If we don't fix this type of officiating, then our football is going nowhere.
"We need younger people to come in and run the league."
