Potouridis, 29, arrived at City in October 2019 surrounding much optimism as a Greece youth international and former with over a decade of experience in Europe since breaking out at Olympiacos in 2007.
However, the towering centre-back failed to establish himself as a first-team regular with Taariq Fielies and Abbubaker Mobara ahead of him in the pecking order.
"City bids farewell to Greek defender Giannis Potouridis after agreeing to mutually part ways in preparation for the new season," the club statement read. "We wish him the best of luck in the next phase of his career."
Potouridis made only 24 appearances for the Citizens during his stay and is likely to return to Europe for the next stage of his career.
