Milford FC head coach Nhlanhla Hlongwa has pointed out the difference between facing Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC.

In the last 32 of the Nedbank Cup Amakhosi were beaten 5-4 on penalties following their 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

But on the weekend the KwaZulu-Natal-based club could not repeat another upset in the last 16 as they suffered 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Carling Cup champions, Stellenbosch FC.

"I would like to congratulate Stellenbosch and we wish them all the best in the tournament, first of, all nothing went wrong in our game against them," Hlongwa tells KickOff.

"The only difference in this game and the Kaizer Chiefs game was the goals scored and the way we planned.

"What we liked about Stellenbosch is that they did take us seriously, they do their analysis very well, and they did make sure they punish us.

"They could identify our weak points, they were breaking our last line of defense, that’s the only thing they did.

"The likes of Iqraam Rayners took our center backs apart, by I don't mean Kaizer Chiefs they didn't take us seriously, even Kaizer Chiefs they did take us seriously.

"But Stellenbosch they didn't want any mistakes on the day, they gave us respect, they didn't treat us like a small team, they treated us as a PSL team.

"We take that loss by confidence, and again the boys have not dropped their heads.

"Kaizer Chiefs did get their chances to score, maybe they were just not lucky on that day.

"Kaizer Chiefs they didn't get to watch our three games in a row, remember Stellenbosch analyzed us from our Kaizer Chiefs game, they came to our game against Hungry Lions and also saw us against JDR Stars.

"Stellenbosch they had plenty of time to watch us compared to Kaizer Chiefs, they could see all our game plans.

"The boys tried their best, we are out of the competition and now we are focused on the league.

"Our next mission is to collect those points and move away from the relegation zone."

With only nine league matches left, Stellenbosch is in position 14 in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table with only 20 points in the bag.

Only a point separates them from the bottom of the table Platinum City Rovers.
