Motsepe Foundation Championship show analyst Absalom ‘Scara’ Thindwa backs Cape Town Spurs to edge Polokwane City and Casric Stars in the race for a place in the DStv Premiership.

Rise and Shine currently lead the log table, followed by the Urban Warriors in second, while Stars are in third.

The three sides are left with four matches each and they are all tired on 50 points.

“It’s a difficult one because all these teams you've mentioned are on top form,” Thindwa tells KickOff.

“It’s between Spurs and Polokwane but I will give it to Spurs. Casric they have a team but they are still new in the league.

“Remember Shaun Bartlett [Spurs coach] promoted Golden Arrows to the PSL before, so he knows what it takes to get over the finish line.

“Other than that, he has formed a well-balanced team with a mixture of youngsters and experience.

“Radiopane, when he comes in he scores goals. And there’s Ashley Cupido who is scoring goals like nobody’s business.

“And another plus for Spurs is Bartlett is a qualified coach who’s been overseas.

“He’s got experienced veterans like Clayton Daniels there who he's been managing very well.

“Bartlett allows him to skip some of the training sessions because he understands that Clayton’s body is no longer young.

“On Friday Polokwane they are playing away against JDR Stars, and JDR they’ve got nothing to lose, and they won the last time they face each other.

“Polokwane after JDR it’s Uthongathi, Platinum City and Pretoria Callies.

“Spurs look good because they are playing against Platinum City Rovers, at home this coming weekend. Platinum City Rovers are not consistent. They can also steal some points from Spurs from La Masia and Venda. They may only struggle against Tuks.

“It’s a different weekend for Casric who is playing against AmaTuks. They are also playing Callies who are on a high, but I think they will beat Venda and All Stars.

“All Stars because they are selling their status, I don’t think there’s any motivation left in their boy.”
