Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou has questioned the legitimacy of the results on the final day of the Motsepe Foundation Championship after a dramatic twist in the race for promotion.

Efstathiou revealed that Spurs would support any decision by the Premier Soccer League on whether to investigate last weekend's results.

League winners Polokwane City were crowned champions after their one-sided 4-0 win over Pretoria Callies.

As Spurs fell at the final hurdle after being held to a 1-1 draw by Tuks when needing a win to secure automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.

"I actually don’t want to make any comments on the game [against Tuks], and I certainly don't want to comment on what happened in the other games," Efstathiou tells KickOff.

"I think people should just see and should look at it [results] very carefully.

If the powers that be think there’s anything that should be investigated, I think that’s what should be done, that’s all I’m saying.

"I think people should join the dots and look at all the important matches that were played.

“Look at them with a different eye, and they can work it out for themselves.

“I don’t want to say anything, I just want people to have a look and you heard the coach from Callies.

"I mean where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I don’t want to point fingers at anything, but I want people to make up their own minds.

"We got to see from our side how we prepare the team [for the playoffs]. But, we need to see where we stand with what’s going on and how the playoffs will be dealt with.

"I think the starting point will be to see what happens. Other than that, we will go out and do our best."
