University of Pretoria 2-2 Orbit College

Orbit College maintained top spot in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after a 2-2 draw against the University of Pretoria in a top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday.

AmaTuks were in the lead through free-scoring Thabang Sibanyoni, but the visitors levelled before the former restored advantage to set them on their way to victory.

However, the table-toppers managed to snatch a point from the cusp of defeat and left the spoils shared in the potential title-decider.

Magesi FC 2-1 Upington City

Upington City had their three-match unbeaten run come to an following a 2-1 loss to Magesi FC and dropped down to fourth spot on the table.

The host hit the front before the half-hour mark courtesy of Anathi Ngwadla, but it was cancelled as Keletso Makgalwa clawed City level.

Although, Clinton Larsen’s men regained momentum and went on to grab the winner through none other than John Mokone minutes in the second stanza.

NB La Masia 2-2 Venda Football Academy

NB La Masia played a second draw in as many matches after holding the Venda Football Academy to an entertaining 2-2 stalemate.

It was energetic right from the start, with the visitors going ahead at the break through goals from veteran striker Moeketsi Sekola and Reagan Lubesha.

However, the lead didn’t last a great deal as the host levelled to snatch a vital point and ended the year on a high note, as Venda slumped to the basement of the table.

Maritzburg United 1-2 Baroka FC

Baroka FC got back on the winning path and jumped to third-place on the table following a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United.

The two teams were on equal terms at the course of the break, but Dan Malesela managed to see out the win and ultimately regained winning ways after last weekend’s loss to Milford Stallions.

Wednesday 20 December

Hungry Lions 3-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Hungry Lions managed to get back to winning ways in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after edging Marumo Gallants FC 3-1 on Wednesday.

Under new man Steven Polack, the visiting team went ahead in the opening couple of minutes courtesy of Chaine’s well-taken finish.

Di Tau, who now in their third term since their promotion from the ABC Motsepe League, got back level through Katlego Cwinyane and went ahead at the break off Raymond Daniels’ strike.

The host added a third following the conclusion of the first spell and ultimately confirmed the win to leave the visitors with a tail between their legs.

Pretoria Callies 3-2 Casric Stars

Struggling Pretoria Callies leaped off the foot of the table following an entertaining 3-2 victory over Casric Stars at the TUT Stadium.

The Romans raced to an early lead around the half-hour mark, but the travelling charges halved the cushion just after the break through Decide Chauke.

Callies extended the tally a little later before the visitors managed to get a second on board through Thulani Mbonani, but it mattered not as the Romans emerged winners.

Platinum City Rovers 1-0 JDR Stars

Fellow strugglers Platinum City Rovers held off JDR Stars 1-0 to register their maiden win under the recently appointed mentor Tlou Segolela.

After contrasting fortunes from both in their last matches, the host were able to hold firm this time to get over the line and eased their relegation woes.
