Promotion-chasing Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele has challenged the club’s new striker Gift Motupa to score five goals for his team during his short-term deal.

On Tuesday the Lebowakgomo-based club announced the return of Motupa as they are looking to push for promotion.

The Dan "Dance" Malesela-coached side is currently in position 4 in the Motsepe Foundation Championship table and only four points behind table toppers the University of Pretoria FC.

All 16 teams have 11 league matches remaining.

"I want this league title," Mphahlele tells KickOff.

"This year we are ready, we are prepared and we've got the squad. My boys are ready. We've been speaking to Gift Motupa before he even left Mamelodi Sundowns after noticing that his services were not being used.

"We told him if an opportunity comes, he must not hesitate to come and join us. After he failed to land a deal at SuperSport United, that was our opportunity to pounce on him.

"But as you know he is our boy, we don't have any problem with him, we have a good relationship with him. He loves the team and we love him. And he was always welcome to come back, in fact, all my boys are.

"All our former players if things don't go well for them along the way they shouldn't be afraid to come back. They don't have to do so via the backdoor, they must always use the front door.

"We've just signed Motupa until the end of the season, we just want to see first where are we going to be by the end of the season, once that is finalised, then we can negotiate and extend our relationship further.

"We intend to see him retire at Baroka. In the remaining 11 games, five goals from him will be fine, Siyabonga Mthombeni is also there he will score the other goals, as well as the rest of my other boys."
