When Martin Carelse sits down to reflect on his football career he always thinks of the days when he played in the old first division (MTN League) as a teenage schoolboy.
Back then the lad from Eden Park, Ekurhuleni had to attend classes at school every morning then rush back home to change and get into taxis that would ultimately take him to Eldorado Park, which is about 35km away.
